Joey Canady was called to serve as Hampstead Baptist Church's Interim Pastor in February of 2014. He became Senior Pastor in May of 2015. Prior to that, he served as Pastor and Associate Pastor in several churches in southeast NC.

Joey’s desire is for God to be glorified in the local church. It’s his strong conviction that the local church is God’s “plan A” for the propagation of the gospel… “I love the local church because it’s what God has sovereignly chosen for families to be discipled, evangelism to be prompted, and missions to be launched; all for God’s glory and our good”

He graduated from Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary in 1996 and continually strives to increase his knowledge in the gospel by surrounding himself with godly mentors, gifted writers, and good friends.

Pastor Joey has been happily married for 34 to his wife, Ramona. They have two Children, and two grandchildren.

Chris Canuel was called to serve as Hampstead Baptist Church’s Family Pastor in December of 2021. Prior to that, he served as Pastor of Cheerful Hope Baptist Church in Delco, North Carolina.

Pastor Chris has a passion for preaching and teaching the Word of God so that individuals and families can come to know Jesus, and be discipled and equipped to tell others about Him. Pastor Chris loves the local church, and the call of the local church and its members to love each other as well as the community in which it is located.

He graduated from Andersonville Theological Seminary in 2022 with a Master of Ministry in Pastoral Leadership.

Pastor Chris has been happily married for 15 years to his wife, Meredith. They have 9 children.

Kelly Witherspoon was called to serve as Hampstead Baptist Church's Director of Communications, Technology, and September 2022.    Prior to that, she served as Children’s Director of Hampstead Baptist Church.

The attributes that best describe Kelly are leadership development, willingness to serve and a genuine love of Christ and His Church.  She has expressed a burning desire to serve a church like Hampstead Baptist Church where biblical views are embraced and encouraged, with members who care about the needs of those around them and who want to connect others to the body of Christ..

She graduated from UNCW in 1984 with a degree in Communications.  She also graduated from Andersonville Theological Seminary in 2011 with a Master of Ministry degree.

Kelly has been happily married for 34 to her husband, Richard. They have two children and four grandchildren.
